Pompeiopolis

Pompeiopolis (Greek: Πομπηιούπολις, city of Pompeius) was an important and rich Roman city located in Paphlagonia. It is 40km north-east of Kastamonu in the Black Sea region of Turkey. It lies a short distance across the river from modern Taşköprü in the valley of the Gök River (Greek: Αμνίας, Amnías). The borders of Pompeiopolis reached the Küre mountains to the north, the Ilgaz mountains to the south, the Halys river to the east and the Pınarbaşı valley to the west.
